Las Cruces Museum of Science

Hello Explorers!

As a family, we often look for different places to explore during our new
adventure in Texas. As an educator and a mom, I often try to find things that will foster my son’s curiosity and transform his young mind. Taking your child to a museum, regardless of age, has many benefits for their developmental growth.

Children’s museums are like exercise for a young child’s brain, opening
their cortex of thinking by stimulating the mind through exploration and play.
As toddlers and young children’s minds develop, they strengthen their
ability to focus on tasks and their working memory through play and engagement.
My son enjoyed exploring the exhibits and identifying the animals. We often discussed the animal’s name and items in the tanks. For example, Brown Lizard has a green background. His favorite part of the museum was exploring the lights and colors. Finding opportunities that provided us with a chance to talk about colors in a more hands-on way. For example, red light is now orange light.
